Celebrities are so influential that we are often enamored with everything that they do. When popular stars swear by a product or a regimen, fans quickly purchase and follow their routines without doing any research if they actually work or if they’re just a waste of time and money.
Now, celebrities have been flaunting their healthy lifestyle on social media, interviews, and other appearances. However, professional nutritionists Dr. Caroline Apovian and dietician Brittany Markides explains that some of these celebrity diets are actually terrible for you.
Dr. Caroline Apovian, the director of the Nutrition and Weight Management Center at the Boston Medical Center, said:
“Nightshade vegetables are nutrient-rich options, and many of them, such as tomatoes and bell peppers, provide essential antioxidants to the body. The majority of my patients eat nightshades […] this is a healthy group of vegetables that should be included in the diet.”
The doctor said that our body naturally detoxifies on its own, so these detox teas don’t really make a lot of sense.
The main point of ingesting clay is to purify our bodies from toxins. However, clay can be harmful. In fact, Dr. Caroline said that clay contains high amounts of arsenic and lead.”
The actress follows an Alkaline diet, which is a plant-based and fruits diet, which is pretty healthy. Unfortunately, since the diet doesn’t allow practioners to eat acidic food like meat and dairy, they will end up havong a B12 definicency.
The doctor noted:
“This diet will not result in permanent weight loss, as soon as you resume normal eating habits the weight will come back on.”
Some food just needed to be cooked to make it easier to digest. There is a high chance pranctioners will be malnourished because of this diet.
Brittany Markides, the founder of the Choose Food nutrition counseling service, said that this diet can cause “dehydration, electrolyte imbalances, and impaired bowel function.”
Eating purple-colored foods are fine. But experts said that don’t limit yourself on this color bracket.
This diet will mostly affect your thinking. Since you trained yourself so hard to eat cleanly, and when you happen to consume something that’s not on your list, you will feel so much guilt and shame.
Reducing sugar from your diet is a good thing, but totally eliminating them is not a healthy move. As shocking as it sounds, we do need sugar to function well.
The doctor said that there is no solid evidence that “fat-only breakfast stimulates your body to burn more fat during the day.”
