15 Movie Stars Who’ve Played As Marvel and DC Characters
Superhero movies are all the rage these days and with the amount of money they’re making, it’s safe to say that the genre isn’t going away anytime soon. It’s a fantastic time to be alive for fans of both Marvel and DC as more and more spandex-clad characters from comicbooks and cartoons are now getting the big screen treatment.
While getting an official crossover between these two giants is next to impossible as of the moment (it would be nice to see a Justice League vs Avengers movie, right?), keen-eyed moviegoers know that there are several actors and actresses who have had the opportunity to work for both companies.
Who are the Hollywood stars who have appeared onscreen as both Marvel and DC characters? Check out the list below!
1.Ben Affleck
Affleck is Batman in the DC movies but before he donned the cape and cowl, he was Marvel’s blind superhero Daredevil.
2. Halle Berry
Berry is mostly known by superhero fans for playing Storm in the X-Men franchise. Aside from that, she also portrayed Catwoman in a (not-so successful) solo movie.
3. Josh Brolin
Meanwhile, Brolin has played two Marvel characters namely Thanos and Cable. Over at DC, he starred as Jonah Hex in the movie of the same name.
4. Michael Keaton
Back in the late 80s, Keaton was Batman in director Tim Burton’s take on the caped crusader. Fast forward to the present, he’s now Vulture in Marvel/Sony’s Spider-Man: Homecoming.
5. Michael Fassbender
He’s young Magneto in FOX’s X-Men franchise. But way before that, he was Burke in the above-mentioned Jonah Hex film.
6. Tom Hardy
What do badass characters Bane and Venom have in common? They’re both played by the same actor!
7. Michelle Pfeiffer
She was DC’s Catwoman in the Batman Returns movie in the early 90s. Now most superhero movie fans know her as Janet Van Dyne, the original Wasp in Marvel’s Ant-Man and The Wasp.
8. Ryan Reynolds
He’s Deadpool to many but before he became the merc with a mouth, Reynolds starred as Hal Jordan/Green Lantern.
9. Angela Bassett
Speaking of Green Lantern, legendary actress Angela Bassett played the role of Amanda Waller. Over at Marvel, she’s known as Ramonda, Queen of Wakanda and Black Panther’s mother.
10. J.K. Simmons
He wants pictures of Spider-Man in Gotham City! Actor J.K.Simmons first starred as Daily Bugle editor J.Jonah Jameson in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy and he later got to play as Commissioner Gordon in Zack Snyder and Joss Whedon’s Justice League.
11. Laurence Fishburne
Another editor on the list is Daily Planet’s Perry White who was portrayed by Laurence Fishburne in Man of Steel and Batman v Superman. Later on, he also starred as former SHIELD scientist-turned-college professor Dr. William “Bill” Foster in Ant-Man and The Wasp who is also known as Black Goliath, Giant-Man, and Goliath in the comics.
12. Natalie Portman
Before she was Jane Foster in Thor and Thor: The Dark World, Natalie Portman was Evey in DC/Vertigo’s live action adaptation of V for Vendetta.
13. Taika Waititi
He’s become a household name in the superhero world after he directed Thor: Ragnarok. He also starred as fan-favorite Korg in the same movie. Meanwhile, he was Thomas Kalmaku in Green Lantern.
14. Tommy Lee Jones
He was Colonel Chester Phillips in Captain America: The First Avenger. Plus he was also the half-mad, half-madman Two-Face in Batman Forever.
15. Zachary Levi
Last but not the least, the latest addition to the list is actor Zachary Levi. Way before he was Shazam, he was Fandral of the Warriors Three in two Thor movies.
