230 New Emojis Set To Release For 2019

This year, millions of smartphone users are about to get 230 new emojis to express their feelings and thoughts better. The Unicode Consortium released its annual list of new emoji and mobile phone users will be able to use them soon.

All these come as a part of Emoji 12.0. The new list racks up the total to 230 emojis including gender and skin color variations, and it has 59 new base emoji. People are always welcoming when it comes to new emojis, especially those who enjoy using them in their day to day communication with family, friends, and colleagues.

The new emoji list includes a couple of drafted ones before like the Flamingo, Otter, Orangutan, Hindu Temple, Sari, Sloth, Mate, Waffle, Juice Box, and Onions. It is also worth noting that accessibility will be a major addition of the new emoji. The emoji 12.0 list has wheelchairs, guide dogs, and deaf people.

Phil Talbot, from the disability charity Scope, said:

“Social media is hugely influential, and it’s great to see these new disability-inclusive emojis. Up to now, disability has been greatly underrepresented.”

There are also new colors for circles and squares in the upcoming release. And finally, the much requested white heart emoji will soon be available fas well. However, there’s one new emoji, in particular, that has caught people’s attention. A “pinching hand” emoji is also being released, which many people have suggested could be used in a bit of a cheeky manner.

Unicode’s announcement indicates that all the documentation required for vendors implement the Emoji 12.0 set is now complete. The emoji will be made available after Apple and Google release their software updates around fall.

Links to relevant data files, technical documentation, and updated charts are all linked within Unicode’s post and will be used by developers to add emoji support to operating systems, apps, and web platforms throughout 2019.
