Love potato chips? These DIY snack-hacks are absolute must-try's!
Potato chips are probably everyone’s guilty pleasure. While chips may be unhealthy and unreasonably overpriced, these calorie-filled snacks are really fun to munch on when binge-watching some Netflix shows, doing a project, or simply relaxing with some friends. The bags are available in different tasty flavors so there’s always something for everyone to choose from. Plus they taste great when consumed side by side with cream cheese dip, a can of soda or even ice cream!
But did you know that you can make your own chips at home? All you will need is just a small pack of corn tortillas plus a few simple ingredients and you can cook up your own DIY versions of Fritos, Doritos, and Tostitos. Brady Klopfer shared these simple recipes over at WonderHowTo and they’re absolutely easy to make.
Here’s how you do it:
Cut the tortillas into small strips. Use a pizza cutter or a knife.
Spread the tortilla strips in a baking sheet. Use vegetable or olive oil. Bake them for 10 to 15 minutes at 375°F.
Make a spice mixture with 2 parts salt, 2 parts garlic powder, 1 part chili powder, and 1 part smoked paprika. After the tortillas are cooked, drizzle a small amount of oil and then throw in the spice mixture. Voila! You’ve got your own homemade Fritos.
Cut your tortillas into six wedges, pizza-style.
Spread the wedges on a baking sheet. Rub a small amount of oil on both sides of each strip.
Bake the chips in a 350°F oven for 12-18 minutes. Grab the cheese packet from your mac and cheese. Add 1 teaspoon of salt and cayenne powder.
Toss the chips in the mixture and be ready to consume your DIY Doritos.
As with the Doritos, cut the tortillas into six wedges.
Coat both sides with olive oil. Place the strips on a baking sheet and then bake them in a 400ºF oven for 10 to12 minutes. Sprinkle some salt and enjoy!
The awesome thing about these recipes is that they are really quick to make and are very inexpensive. On top of that, they’re much healthier compared with the chips available in the market.
