5 Rituals That You Should Include in Your Morning Routine
Each day, after we wake up, we all have those morning rituals that we consistently perform. Be it drinking coffee, taking a quick jog, having breakfast, or just waking up perennially late – our mornings just won’t be complete without doing what we’re used to doing.
There’s nothing wrong with morning routines, really. But the thing is, we can make our mornings healthier by adding some simple rituals, such as the following:
1. Massaging your ears
Shake off those early morning cobwebs by massaging your ears. Stimulating the sensitive parts of the ear can help you fully wake up and may influence your energy level. You can do this while still lying in bed.
2. Drinking a glass of warm water with lemon
You might want to swap that cup of coffee for a glass of warm water with lemon. Sure, coffee gives us the kick to start our day, but this glass of warm lemon water does more wonders to our body. It helps support the digestive system and the kidneys, boosts our immune system, and detoxifies our body. A quarter of a lemon is enough for one glass of water, and after drinking, it is best to wait approximately 20-30 minutes before eating your breakfast.
3. Cleaning your tongue
Since time immemorial, dentists have taught us to brush our teeth twice a day. And while we’re brushing our teeth, let us not forget that we need to clean our tongues, too. Bacteria accumulate on the tongue and can cause bad breath, tooth decay, and gum problems if not removed during brushing. Use your toothbrush to gently brush your tongue.
4. Consuming a teaspoon of honey
Gobbling up a teaspoonful of honey every morning can also do wonders to our body. It is a good source of energy plus it helps stimulate memory, sparks productivity, cures coughs, and alleviates symptoms of allergies. It is ideal to consume fresh and natural honey 10-15 minutes before breakfast. If it is too sweet for your taste, you can dissolve it in a glass of water.
5. Washing your mouth with hydrogen peroxide solution
Washing your mouth with hydrogen peroxide is safe as long as you use the correct concentration and as long as you do not swallow the solution. Add 5 to 7 drops of 3% hydrogen peroxide to 50ml water. Remember to add hydrogen peroxide to the water, not the other way around. Doing this can help eliminate bad breath, whiten teeth, and heal gums.
