We go to our favorite restaurants to enjoy the food and ambiance. We pay, we leave and return any time soon. However, things might not be the same anymore when you go to your favorite restaurant as there are changes made to the premises that are quite noticeable.
Most of these changes are actually good and are even in favor of the environment and for people who care for it. Here are six things that you won’t find in restaurants anymore.
Seattle is believed to be the first major U.S. city to ban single-use plastic straws and utensils in food service. A 2014 study published by the Public Library of Science estimates there’s more than 250,000 tons of plastic in the world’s oceans, and straws are part of that. With that finding, some restaurants are slowly removing plastic straws in their establishment.
Styrofoams are used for to-go drinks. But new laws are now demanding establishments to not use these cups anymore.
Almost all establishments use plastic, but many are now following tha plastic ban.
Aside from plastic straws and cups, plastic utensils are also being banned. They are mostly used for takeouts, which is the easiest way when you’re in a hurry.
Over the past decade, trans fat usage has dropped dramatically in restaurants and processed foods due to customer demand. The FDA demanded on June 16, 2015, that trans fats will be banned as an ingredient and cooking oil in the United States. The FDA has given manufacturers and restaurants three years to remove trans fats from food.
Many states have banned the use of cigarettes and electronic cigarettes. Some states, however, have still not banned it, including many in the south.
