5 Sure Signs That You’re Not Sleeping Well Enough

Sleeping well doesn’t only mean you get 7 to 8 hours every night. Quality of sleep is as important as quantity; you may be getting the hours but you’re not sleeping deep enough. Deep sleep is when your body totally rests and recuperate from the wear and tear of daily life.

Here are signs that your sleep is not as good as it should be:

1. You hit the snooze button many times

We all fall victim to the habit of practically slamming the snooze button because we’re still too groggy to stand up and function. We put off getting up for as long as we could until we’re already late for work. Not all can pop up from bed immediately after the alarm goes off, but you can at least spend several minutes rousing yourself completely from sleep before you can get up. If you can’t do this because you’re still to sleepy, then you didn’t get a good night’s rest.

2. Your brain is not functioning properly

It’s no secret that when you have only a couple of hours sleep, you are practically useless at work the next day. Lack of sleep wreaks havoc on your attention span and your memory. So don’t be surprised if you’re having difficulty with your motor skills and remembering stuff when you’re powered solely by coffee and nothing else.

3. You snarl at everyone

Lack of sleep equals supreme irritability and thus you become a monster to everyone you encounter. You snap at the gas attendant, your spouse, and your kids even when they’re doing nothing wrong. It was discovered that having broken sleep is way worse on your mood than going to bed late but getting plenty of hours of bedtime.

4. You’re SO hungry

When we lack sleep, our energy levels are depleted. This is why we tend to reach for a candy bar or a bag of chips when this happens because we are desperate for a quick surge of energy. We crave for high-fat and high-sugar foods after a night of poor sleep.

5. You can’t exercise

You couldn’t even compose an email to your boss, so how do you expect to do some bench presses at the gym after work? Some can actually manage to go to the gym even with poor sleep, but they couldn’t maximize the workout and come out more fatigued than they have ever been.
