Most of us knew Hafþór Björnsson as The Mountain in HBO’s hit TV series “Game of Thrones.” Apparently, this guy is not just muscles and flexes. He actually lives up to his screen name in real life. That is because he recently showed to the world how strong he really is. And by strong, we mean deadlifting a massive barbell!

While competing at this year’s Arnold Strongman Classic, Cersei Lannister’s silent yet extremely dangerous bodyguard broke his own raw deadlift world record. And mind you, we are talking 1,041 pounds here. That is not an easy task to do, no?

Footage from the competition – which has gone viral – shows the 29-year-old actor raising the colossal barbell to his waist. Using the assistance of a belt and some straps (though we seriously think he does not need them), he posed for a few seconds and nod to the crowd. And right there, Björnsson broke his own world record like taking candy from a baby.

This accomplishment is no surprise really, considering that the 6-foot-9 man has previously broken other world records. He did all of these by carrying a 30-foot, 1,433-pound log while walking five steps. And, oh, let us not forget the fact that he also hauled two refrigerators (yes, that is right – not one but two refrigerators!) over 20 meters in just 19.6 seconds.

The Mountain is definitely a monster, though on a more positive note.

But if his brother The Hound wants to take up the mantle, he better have his own work cut out for him. Otherwise, The Mountain will only crush him.
