Verizon Worker Gets Suspended After Rescuing Cat Using His Work Equipment

The story of a heroic Verizon employee recently went viral after rescuing a cat. Maurice German of Port Richmond, Pennsylvania bravely saved a cat named Princess Momma after she has been stuck on the pole for 12 hours.

Amanda Fairchild Boyce, neighbor of the cat owner, said they did their best before calling for help. They eventually called up animal rescue, the fire department, and other organizations but their attempts proved futile. It was German who immediately responded when he heard about the situation and a video showing his heroic deed was posted on social media.

Much to everyone’s surprise, however, German’s kind act led to him getting suspended for three weeks without pay – all because he used company equipment to rescue the animal.

According to reports, Verizon “did not like the video and suspended him.”

Company spokesperson Rich Young said:

“We take no joy in this job action. However, we’re committed and responsible for keeping our employees and customers safe while working in a particular area.”

Shocked by the company’s decision, Boyce slammed them online and rallied behind German so netizens would support him.

One guy named Bob Jones commented:

“So instead of getting what would have been GREAT, FREE advertising for their company, they are now getting REALLY BAD FREE advertising. OOPS!”

Mary Sekan Nkhwamba Phiri also wrote:

“Now the company’s name will be tarnished. Can another company give this man a job please? He’s got lots of love in his heart.”

Thankfully, someone created a GoFundMe page for German and lots of support have since been pouring in.

The page reads:

“This generous man is now being punished! Maurice is being suspend from his job for saving an animal. Let’s support Maurice for his good deed while his employer punishes him!”

Well this just proves that when you do good, good indeed comes back to you. Maurice German, you are a true hero!
