  • A new study has revealed that women are getting less sleep than men every night.
  • It was confirmed that women miss out on three hours of sleep at night because of their partners.
  • The lack of sleep is also attributed to hormonal changes and other biological factors.

Do you always feel like you’re not getting enough sleep while your husband can manage to slumber like a baby? You might not be the only one. A new study has found that women can actually lose up to three hours of sleep per night because of their partners.

The survey, which was commissioned by Bensons for Beds, asked 2,000 British couples about their sleeping habits. Interestingly, the survey discovered that women miss out on three hours of sleep every night. That’s 105 hours a year or 45 days without slumber.

In addition to that, the biggest reason why women are missing out is because of the men sleeping beside them.

Men and women clearly have different sleeping habits.

According to the survey, at least one out of three women claim they wake up at some point during the night while only two out of ten men report the same thing. Additionally, one out of two women admit that they constantly feel that they are deprived of sleep.

So who is responsible for the lack of sleep? One out of four women blame their partner’s snoring. Meanwhile, only 14 percent of women say sleep deprivation is because of having children. Either way, the findings confirm that women are in dire need of some much-needed rest.

Pregnancy can affect a woman’s sleeping habits.

Bensons for Beds representative Helen Nunn says this is something to be concerned about.

“Sleep – or lack of sleep – can affect so many aspects of our day-to-day lives,” she said. “It’s worrying to see that this research has found women are getting less sleep and feeling more tired than their male counterparts.”

Bensons for Beds sleep expert Stephanie Romiszewski pointed out that there are other reasons why women sleep less.

“It makes sense that men and women have different sleep needs – we are in some ways very different,” she said. “What with hormonal changes that come with menstruation, pregnancy, and menopause, the biological differences alone are huge. With this in mind, it’s really helpful for us to get into a few good sleep habits that can help get us through.”
