5 ‘Game Of Thrones’ Prequel Theories That Could Involve Dragons And Direwolves
There is little doubt that the compelling story of the people of Westeros is the real reason why fans couldn’t get enough of Game of Thrones. However, a few viewers still admit that they are following the series because of the dragons. Although the current series only has three, there are speculations that the upcoming prequel shows will feature more mythical creatures.
HBO is undoubtedly eager to begin work on the Game of Thrones prequel series. The network has already started scouting filming locations in Isle of Skye in Scotland and will reportedly begin production in October. The new show is still veiled in secrecy. Nevertheless, here are 5 theories about the new series that could involve dragons, direwolves, and so much more.
#1. Empire Of Ash
The series might focus on the Fall of Valyria and feature the city of Sothoryos. Think of it as an ancient version of the HBO show Rome, but with dragons. The show could introduce some of Daenerys Targaryen’s ancestors and how they dealt with the Doom of Valyria hundreds of years ago. Fans believe this could be the basis of the second prequel series and not the one that will be filmed in October.
#2. Dance Of The Dragons
You can’t have a Targaryen Civil War without dragons. The series will follow Aegon II and his half-sister Rhaenyra as they battled over who will succeed their father Viserys I. There will be plenty of aerial fights involving dragons. Unfortunately, it could also mean that HBO will need the help of the Iron Bank of Braavos for the budget. Nevertheless, fans are hopeful that this civil war will end up as one of the prequel shows.
#3. Fire And Blood
Here is something that has already been mentioned in the current Game of Thrones series. This would follow Aegon’s Conquest as he and his sisters Visenya and Rhanys conquered Westeros.
It would show how Torrhen Stark bent the knee to Aegon I Targaryen and how the Iron Throne was built. Like the current series, this prequel will feature three dragons.
#4. The King Beyond The Wall
Fans already know that the wildlings tried to invade Westeros six times but were always defeated by the Night’s Watch. The prequel could focus on the Free Folk as well as the Night’s Watch and could even feature some direwolves and giants like Wun Wun. The White Walkers could even make an appearance.
#5. Age Of Heroes
The upcoming prequel is already expected to focus on Bran the Builder, the founder of House Stark and Winterfell. The series could reveal how direwolves came to be the House Sigil. In addition to that, it may finally confirm if Bran actually built the Wall with the help of giants.
The Game of Thrones prequel will begin production in October. The final season of the current series is set to premiere in 2019.
