Police Hunts Con-Man Who Injected Old Woman With Fake Covid-19 Vaccine

• London cops currently looking for a man who scammed an elderly woman by injecting her with a fake coronavirus vaccine.
• He posed as an NHS employee and gathered personal information from her via phone.
• The victim, who lives alone, has since been brought to the hospital for checking.

Authorities in London are currently hunting a fraudster who inoculated a 92-year-old woman with a fake Covid-19 vaccine. According to reports, the crook found the victim by calling random numbers using the phonebook.

The unnamed elderly woman, a resident of Surbiton, South London, lived alone and so the con-man saw his opportunity after gathering personal information during their phone call. He allegedly pretended to be a National Health Service worker and then proceeded to set an appointment with her. He eventually asked £160 from her and returned five days later to get an additional £100.

The con-man was spotted walking around the neighborhood via a CCTV footage.

According to the victim’s relative:

“She got a call about the vaccine and the caller said they were from a GP surgery.

“They asked her about her age and living arrangements and then went round. She’s still a bit shaken. It’s a disgraceful thing to do to a vulnerable, elderly lady.”

Family members who lived from different areas have now decided to stay with the victim after the incident.

48-year-old Vasanth Rajaguru, one of the neighbors, admitted:

“I’m too scared to open my door now after hearing this. This man needs to be caught and punished before he shows up at someone else’s house.

“This is a family neighborhood and there has never been any problems with crime before this. But after this, no one can feel safe.”

As of the moment, it remains unclear what substance, if any, was used when the victim was injected but a hospital check up revealed she did not experience any bad effects.

Authorities are warning the public about the scammer.

Meanwhile, a spokesperson from the government reminded the public:

“NHS England will never charge you for the vaccine or ask for bank details, PIN numbers or passwords, when contacting you about a vaccination.

“Any communication which claims to be from the NHS but asks for payment, or bank details, is fraudulent and can be ignored. It can be reported to police via https://www.actionfraud.police.uk/.”

Detective Inspector Kevin Ives of London Police’s Police Intellectual Property Crime Unit also added:

“This is a disgusting and totally unacceptable assault on a member of the public which won’t be tolerated.

“We are appealing to anyone who may have information that could assist us in identifying this man to get in touch.

“It is crucial we catch him as soon as possible as not only is he defrauding individuals of money, he may endanger people’s lives.”
