Girl Did Not Expect to Find a Remnant of Ancient Sea Creature While Strolling on a Beach!
Going to the beach for a swim or stroll are relaxing activities that are ideal for kids and adults during the weekend. Beachgoers expect to find sand, fire rings and the lovely view. But for 9-year-old Kristen Barrick, her trips to the beach on two weekend days were a bit far from expected.
According to a WMBF report, Kristen saw a remnant of the ancient ocean world not once, but twice! On a Friday, she found a megalodon tooth from a shark that went on extinction approximately 2.6 million years ago. Megalodon is the Ancient Greek word for “big tooth,” so it is quite unexpected to find something like that on Myrtle beach! Furthermore, the megalodon belongs the world’s largest species of shark so the discovery is really quite uncommon, says Tim Handsel from te Ripley’s Aquarium.
On Sunday, Kristen found another one and she has this to say:
“I was just so amazed,” she says. “Now I think I’m ruined. I’ll stop looking for the small ones and start looking for the big ones! Sadly yes, I know these are hard to find, and when I find two of them it’s hard to stop.”
