Whoa! I am officially mind-blown!
At first glance, your mind will instantly tell you that the portraits below are nothing but mere photographs. Upon closer inspection, however, you will realize that you are actually wrong. So damn wrong!
These are, in fact, the hyperrealistic renaissance illustrations of Emanuele Dascanio, an artist from Italy.
According to Dascanio, some of these pieces take up to 780 hours to complete and it’s really easy to see why. The artworks are filled with impressive detail they really look lifelike.
For his medium, Dascanio says he uses a combination of charcoal and graphite. He also made it a conscious decision to use only a single source of light for every piece to give them a renaissance vibe.
Where did he learn his skills, you ask? Well, Dascanio said he took oil painting lessons from Italian painter Gianluca Corona who taught him the ways of the renaissance masters. He then used that knowledge, blending it with his unique style and some modern influences, to create these fantastic masterpieces.
Suffice it to say that netizens across the world have been blown away since Dascanio’s works started spreading on the web.
As something of an art enthusiast myself, I am seriously impressed with what this guy can do.
If you want to stay updated with Dascanio’s stuff, go check him out on Facebook and give him a like. This guy definitely deserves more followers than he already has!
