Case in point, Captain America's compass is already breaking our hearts.
Marvel Studios recently dropped the first trailer for the 4th Avengers movie and man, it totally broke the internet! The title for highly-anticipated superhero movie has officially been revealed as ‘Avengers: Endgame’ and it immediately became the most viewed trailer in history after getting 289 million views in 24 hours.
Moviegoers are obviously excited to know what will happen as the story progresses after Infinity War. Needless to say, we’re one of those fans who have replayed the 2-minute clip over and over to get some clues. We’ve found 10 interesting details and we thought we’d share it with everyone.
Read on, fellow Marvelites, and tell us what you think about the following points:
The trailer begins with a shot of a desperate Tony Stark drifting in space, recording a message for Pepper Potts, his fiancee, using a damaged Iron Man helmet. Food and water has ran out and it seems he has accepted his inescapable death. “Part of the journey’s the end,” he says, adding “When I drift off I will dream about you. It’s always you.”
If you listen closely, however, you will hear Tony mention the word ‘rescue’ – which may be his way out of the terrible situation. As comic book geeks would know, Rescue is the codename of Potts when she finally dons a superhero suit of her own – something we’ve already seen actress Gwyneth Paltrow tease on social media months ago.
So will Rescue save Tony from space? Let’s all wait and see.
The next scene shows us Thanos’ battle suit hanging on sticks in a scarecrow-like manner. We see him briefly touching alien-like vegetation but the suit shot in particular grabs our interest since it is a direct reference to a panel from the “Infinity War” comic series.
It looks like the Mad Titan is ready to retire from his villainous life and be a simple farmer after he (no pun intended) “snapped” in the last film. But we can only assume the heroes will come for him sooner or later, seeking revenge for their fallen friends.
The trailer also gives us a shot of a weeping Steve Rogers – who is also noticeably clean-shaven, a different look from his appearance in Avengers: Infinity War.
Of course, fans couldn’t help but wonder about the new look and what he is crying about. Is it because of losing Bucky and his other friends or something else?
It’s a blink-and-you-miss-it moment but yes, we did notice Wakandan princess Shuri was among the reported “missing,” along with Scott Lang and Peter Parker. Has she likewise been turned to dust like the others? If yes, T’Challa will most certainly be after you, Thanos!
After failing to kill Thanos in Infinity War, our favorite God of Thunder is not looking so mighty these days as we see him wearing regular Earth clothes. We also notice his mechanical eye (which Rocket gave him during Infinity War) appears to be a bit reddish.
This is the only shot we see Thor but there’s a wild fan speculation out there that for this upcoming film, he will likely be visiting Alfheim – the only realm out of the 9 realms he hasn’t visited yet so far in his movie appearances.
What could this potential trip mean for the Endgame plot? We’re excited to find out.
She’s in the shadows but it’s obvious this is Nebula. Is she inside the Guardian ship and is that her sister Gamora’s suit she’s touching? Nebula is obviously unhappy and we have a feeling she’ll play a significant role in this movie.
We didn’t see him in the previous movie but now we’ve confirmed Hawkeye is officially back – he’s wearing a new costume and he’s really angry. Did he lose his family during Thanos’ “Snappening”? We’re guessing he did that’s why he’s out there in Japan killing what we assume is a bad guy who deserves it.
Meanwhile, this is how the Ronin suit looked like in the comic books.
Abandoning his battle-damaged suit from the last film, we get a bit of a throwback as we see Steve Rogers donning the Winter Soldier suit – which is, coincidentally, actor Chris Evans’ favorite.
Steve Roger’s compass, which has Peggy Carter’s photograph, again makes a big screen appearance. Remember that scene in the First Avenger before he crashed the plane and “died”? Yes, we saw the same compass there, too, except this time, it looks like it’s Black Widow – not Cap – holding it.
We sure hope they’re not hinting about Cap’s demise here because if that’s the case, we’re not sure if our hearts could take it.
Although we saw him getting stuck in the Quantum Realm in the film Ant-Man and The Wasp (and although we see his picture above and he’s categorized as “missing”), Scott Lang is officially back and we’re willing to bet he’s going to be a big help in putting down Thanos for good.
Avengers: Endgame will hit theaters worldwide come April 2019.
