The sky pool is not for the fainthearted.
Care for a swim? How about swimming in a transparent pool that is suspended 115 feet above the ground? People who are afraid of heights may not be exhilarated about it, but it’s definitely an awesome idea!
The “sky pool” is a unique and remarkable swimming pool designed by Arup Associates for the Ballymore development group. They will construct the transparent and structure-free pool on top of Embassy Garden’s two 10-story-buildings at Nine Elms. Apparently, the first ever 25-meter sky pool will bridge the two buildings; allowing the residents to swim from one edifice to another. And of course, there will be a sky deck with a spa and a summer bar where you can relax and enjoy the view of London’s beautiful skyline.
Sean Mulryan, the CEO and chairman of Ballymore said, “My vision for the sky pool stemmed from a desire to push the boundaries in the capability of construction and engineering. I wanted to do something that had never been done before.
“The experience of the pool will be truly unique, it will feel like floating through the air in central London,” Mulryan told The Guardian.
The sky pool will definitely add to the prestige of the residential and commercial estate. Each apartment costs more than £602,000 or $940,000, so an amenity like that should be worth it, right?
Now those who know how to do the butterfly stroke will feel like they’re actually flying, especially when there’s only a 20-centimeter glass filled with water that separates them from the rest of the world below. Let’s just hope that no one would dare go skinny dipping up there.
The sky pool project is expected to be finished in 2018.
