In a recent Instagram post, Band-Aid has officially announced that they are launching a new line of colored bandages featuring different skin tones. The news has since been received with great enthusiasm on social media.
For years, the brand has manufactured adhesive bandage that match lighter skin color. Now they are making the big change to take a stand and send a message, especially these days that racism remains a major issue.
According to Band-Aid:
“We hear you. We see you. We’re listening to you.
“We stand in solidarity with our Black colleagues, collaborators and community in the fight against racism, violence and injustice. We are committed to taking actions to create tangible change for the Black community.”
Band-Aid also added that the new bandages will feature “light, medium and deep shares of Brown and Black skin tone that embrace the beauty of diverse skin,” pointing out that they are “dedicated to inclusivity” and in representing their customers better.

A representative likewise promised the company will be donating $100,000 to the Black Lives Matter movement, in addition to Johnson & Johnson’s $10 million donation.
