A whole new way to look at weight-loss...
It’s quite normal for people who lost a tremendous amount of weight to share before-and-after photos of themselves. Showing their amazing transformation to their family or friends gives them a different level of confidence and allows them to inspire people.
Before undergoing a gastric bypass procedure that would help her lose weight, Beth Beard was determined to document her weight loss in a unique way. With the help of photographer friend Blake Morrow, Beth was able to document her before-and -after weight-loss-look in various pop culture scenarios.
For the heavier Beth, Blake photographed her just two weeks before her surgery. However, it took Beth two years to shed the pounds. Right after achieving her weight loss goal, Beth posed in front of the camera with a much slimmer version of herself. A little help from Photoshop enabled the old Beth to interact with the new Beth.
Dubbed as “The Beth Project,” the fun and creative photo series aims to celebrate new Beth’s hard work without putting the old Beth in a bad light.
“Body image and consciousness are such a divisive idea in our society,” Beard told People magazine.
“I’m hoping that images like Diva Beth show that people on both sides of the spectrum can love themselves.”
