After Seeing The Size Of This Spider, You Might Consider Buying A Flamethrower!

It was about the size of a puppy...

Piotr Naskrecki is an Etymologist that studies katydids, a type of insect related to crickets. According to him, when he search for katydids at night, he go out into the depth of the rain-forest and he prefers to go alone. He carefully explores the forest floor as quiet as he can trying not to disturb anything or anyone.

Several years ago while studying in Guyana, Naskrecki. Piotr was immersed in his ritual when he heard a sound of an animal rustling nearby. He clearly heard its hard feet hitting the ground and dry leaves crumbling under its weight. As he investigated, he first thought he saw a big, hairy rodent. But it was something a lot creepier.

This is what he saw.

A South American Goliath birdeater (Theraphosa blondi), the largest spider in the world.

Each of its legs span are nearly a foot long. About the length of a young puppy.

Its feet have hardened tips and claws that produce a very distinct, clicking sound when they walk.

Though their venom isn’t fatal to humans, their sharp fangs are capable of crushing a mouse’s skull.

Although they’re not deadly to humans, the massive wounds they can inflict is definitely something you should avoid. The gargantuan spider also produce a loud hissing sounds by scraping their legs together as a way of warning predators to steer clear. This was not the only time he encountered a Theraphosa blondi.

One time, when he was walking in the middle of the night, something huge brushed against his foot which made him instantly jump. Expecting to see a snake, it was just another Goliath birdeater. “Ohhh.. Aren’t you a cutie pie?”
