No-one ever believes they are twins because one is white and the other is black.
Although fraternal twins don’t have identical genes, they usually have a couple of similar traits such as the color of the hair or eyes and complexion. But compared to identical twins, it’s very easy to distinguish one fraternal twin from the other.
In the case of fraternal twins Lucy and Maria Aylmer, the two look extremely different from one another that no one can even tell that they are actually siblings. While Lucy has fair skin, straight ginger hair, and blue eyes, her twin sister Maria got caramel complexion, black curls and deep brown eyes.
Their radical difference in complexion was a result of the combination of genes of their half-Jamaican mother Donna and white father Vince. Their siblings George, Jordan, and Chynna have skin colour lighter than Maria’s and darker than Lucy’s.
Lucy, who is currently an art and design student at Gloucester College, revealed that her personality is also on the opposite end of the spectrum as compared to Maria who is taking up law at Cheltenham College.
“Maria was outgoing whilst I was the shy one. But Maria loves telling people at college that she has a white twin – and I’m very proud of having a black twin,” says Lucy.
