Comedian Brad Williams set up a GoFundMe campaign not only to send 9-year-old Quaden Bayles to Disneyland but also to raise awareness against bullying.
A video of a bullied 9-year-old boy has recently shattered all netizen’s hearts into pieces. In the said viral clip, Quaden Bayles, 9, asked his mother Yarraka to give him a rope ’cause he wanted to kill himself. Bayles, in his young age, suffered from constant bullying from his classmates for having dwarfism. According to the worried mom, the kid has already attempted to commit suicide several times in the past.
Popular stand-up comedian Brad Williams, who also has dwarfism, immediately took it upon himself to create a GoFundMe page for Quaden to bring him and his family to Disneyland. So far, the fundraising effort has raked $175,374.
After seeing the video, Williams said in his Twitter Account:
“This made me sick…Please tell this wonderful boy that he has me and an army of friends all over the world that support him.”
Through the campaign, Williams said he wanted to let Quaden know that bullying will not be tolerated and that he is a “wonderful human being who deserves joy.”
“This isn’t just for Quaden, this is for anyone who has been bullied in their lives and told they weren’t enough,” he also added.
Williams said he has already contacted Yarraka. The funds will finance for his family’s plane tickets, hotel, and food plus tickets to Disneyland Park in Anaheim.
Any excess funds from the campaign will be donated directly to other anti-bullying and anti-abuse causes.
Dwarfism (or achondroplasia) is a disorder of bone growth that prevents the transformation of cartilage, particularly in the arms and legs, to bone. To read more about Quaden Bayles’ story, click here!
