5. ACROS Fukuoka Prefectural, Japan

Japan has been leading in facade greening for the past decades, and one of its great examples of green architecture is the ACROS Fukuoka Prefecture, an oasis in the middle of a concrete jungle. The architect of the 18 story building transposed a 100,000 square foot side of the building into 15 stepped terraces of living wall.

In downtown Toronto, Canada, a 714-foot, 58 story building structure is an epitome of profit and beauty because of its living wall.

An estimate of $23 million is the annual profit from the crops in this vertical wall.
