She even got the much-coveted golden buzzer – from Simon Cowell, no less!

This is, without a doubt, the most inspiring thing I’ve seen on TV talent search shows in years.

If you’ve been following America’s Got Talent, then we’re sure you’re already familiar with Calysta Bevier, the shorthaired girl with a fantastic voice who, according to her own story, is a cancer survivor.

As you can tell, this 16-year-old young lady from Grand Rapids, Ohio isn’t just a pretty face. She has gone through a lot and what’s really admirable about her is that aside from her talent, she has a very positive mental attitude.

16-year-old Carly Bevier recently wowed the judges and audience of ‘America’s Got Talent.’

You see, Caly was diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer when she was just 15.

In between treatments, she took the time to serve the community and inspire kids who are also undergoing chemotherapy.

Instead of feeling down about her condition, however, she got busy spending her time serving and inspiring people in the community, particularly kids who are also undergoing chemotherapy.

Wearing a pink firefighter’s helmet, Caly has also paid tribute to the local heroes.

At one point, she has likewise expressed her support for her other heroes – the firefighters – for the selfless work that they do.

She eventually decided to join America’s Got Talent and she was determined not only to win but to “get that golden buzzer,” as she told her mom who replied, “Hell yeah that’s my baby!”

The teen shared her story with the judges which made her “Fight Song” rendition much more powerful.

When Calysta finally took the stage, judge Howie Mandel complimented her do saying:

“I like the whole look. It’s like a little Audrey Hepburn.”

Caly took the opportunity to explain that her hairstyle wasn’t really her choice but she had it because of her cancer – which she has already overcome.

Aside from her amazing personality, what made her stand out among other contestants was her song of choice, Rachel Platten’s “Fight Song” which has the words:

“This is my fight song
Take back my life song
Prove I’m alright song
My power’s turned on
Starting right now I’ll be strong
I’ll play my fight song
And I don’t really care if nobody else believes
‘Cause I’ve still got a lot of fight left in me”

Caly’s heartwarming performance impressed not only the crowd but also the judges. She received a standing ovation and, aside from Simon Cowell’s compliments, the much-coveted golden buzzer.

“I have to do this,” said Simon as he pressed the buzzer for her.

To be honest, I shed a tear while watching this clip. Kudos to you, Caly, for being brave and for being an inspiration to many. We’ll all keep our eyes peeled for your future TV appearances!
