He returned to the scene of his crime - and bought it!
UFC icon Conor McGregor has just purchased a pub in Dublin, Ireland where he made headlines back in 2019. At the time, he punched a 50-year-old man for allegedly refusing his Proper Twelve whiskey after he poured three shots on the bar.
Now he’s back at the same establishment not only to buy it but also to ban the guy he assaulted years ago. He reportedly spent between $2 million and $2.5 million to (£1.4m to £1.8m) to acquire Marble Arch as its owner.
The 32-year-old mixed martial artist confirmed the purchase (and the barring of the elderly customer) in an April 23 tweet where he shared an article from The Currency entitled “McGregor returns to the scene of his crime – and buys it.”
The tweet has since gained over10,000 likes and a lot of reactions from other Twitter users.
One netizen commented about the incident, saying:
“U got to be kidding me, he was seated with his back turned- maybe he didn’t want the whiskey or any unwanted interaction at all. There is no excuse for what Conner did plain and simple.”
Another said:
“Not being fussed about assaulting an old man is something to admire. Its just disgusting behavior.”
In the controversial incident, McGregor was fined €1,000 Euros after pleading guilty to the assault. According to reports, he apologized to Desmond Keogh, the victim, and paid compensation.
McGregor told the media back then:
“That man deserved to enjoy his time in the pub without having it end the way it did. I tried to make amends and I made amends back then. But it doesn’t matter. I was in the wrong. I must come here before you and take accountability and take responsibility.”
Now we see he’s already singing a different tune.
