Winter is definitely here, as millions of fans watched the first episode of the final season of Game of Thrones, which aired on April 14. As die-hards wait with bated breath for the succeeding episodes to unfold, the fan theories continue to escalate into uncontrollable frenzy.
As far-fetched as this theory sounds, it’s still worth listening to. This came from Reddit, which shouldn’t come as a surprise. Now if you haven’t watched the first episode of Season 8, look away because there are spoilers here.
The Redditor came up with the following theory:
Okay so bare with me, S2 The vision opens with Dany walking into the throne room of kings landing destroyed and the throne covered in snow aka ICE. She walks towards it and reaches out to touch it, when she hears her dragons’ cries beyond. The cries make her leave the throne and the vision takes her beyond The Wall into the tent with Drogo and Rhaego. She is tempted to stay there, but repeats the witches words “when then sun rises in the west and sets in the east” and leaves the tent to be reunited with her baby dragons chained to a table in the middle of the room. Then the warlock comes in and says, “the mother is reunited with her babies and you’ll be with them through winter, summer, then winter again”
Okay, so you can see that parts of her vision have come true in season 7.
1) S2 vision: Dany going towards the throne, but is drawn beyond the wall = when, in S7, Dany was going to go attack Kings Landing and take the throne by force, but she was told Jon and company beyond The Wall need rescuing- goes beyond the wall.
2) S2 vision: Dany hearing the dragon cries = S7 the dragons crying beyond the wall after Viserion was killed by the NK.
Here’s the final part of the vision that hasn’t been paralleled yet and this is what I think is going to happen based on the vision.
3)S2 vision: Dany in the tent with Drogo and baby. She makes the decision to leave to be reunited with her dragons and the warlock says “you’ll be with your dragons through winter, summer and winter again” = sometime in S8 I think that she is pregnant with Jon’s baby (but the theory still works if she’s not pregnant) and she will make the decision to leave Jon (and possibly baby Jon) to be with her dragons.
How you ask? Well, in an interview with the actor that plays the NK, he said that “we will learn WHO the Night King is after” in an interview with Emilia Clarke (Dany), she talks about the final season and said “it fucked me up- knowing that is going to be a lasting flavor in someone’s mouth of what Daenerys is” and that Dany is doing really weird stuff.
I believe that the Night King is after Dany to be either his new queen or to take over as queen (him wanting peace=death). One way or another, both living dragons will die in battle. Distraught by losing her dragons, Dany with be persuaded to join the Night King to be reunited with her dragons = she gets her ICE THRONE.
In the history and lore of GoT, there is a story of the 13th commander of the Night Fort fell in love with “a woman made of ice.” She became his Ice Queen and they ruled together. People would sacrifice babies to them, similar to how Crastor sacrificed his sons. Legend says, the 13th commander was brother to Brendon Stark, who went to kill the 13th commander for his evil crimes. The king of the Night Fort was defeated and his name erased from history. Maybe this will be paralleled?
So to recap and wrap up: I believe the Night King is after Dany to be his new Queen. She’ll agree, so she can be with her dragons again. So in a way, she still gets her throne and that’s why in her vision the iron throne is covered in snow because she’s meant to be on an ice throne. Also my theory supports the warlock saying “you’ll be with your dragons through winter, summer, then winter again” How can she do this unless she is reunited with ALL 3 dragons?
Thoughts?
EDIT: We know that the white walkers were taking Crastor’s sons and turning them into more white walkers. What if the white walkers can only change those of pure blood(incest)? That would make Daenerys an important person to the NK, considering her magic. Also could be possible that the person has to be a sacrifice in order to be turned, meaning Dany will have to willingly give herself to the NK as a sacrifice.
No one can deny that Game of Thrones doesn’t hold back when it comes to shocking plots and storylines. This is definitely NOT a happy show, with heroes meeting their deaths on a regular basis alongside villains.
If the Dragon Queen turns out to be the ultimate villain, it would definitely become as a major shock in a show that is made to shock people.
