He was on a break!
He had to do it. People have been talking about a thief who stole a crate of beer at a Blackpool restaurant for his uncanny resemblance to Ross from the TV series Friends. Naturally, David Schwimmer had to prove that he was nowhere near the UK at the time, and he did it in the best possible way.
Blackpool Police recently posted a still from CCTV footage showing a man taking a crate of beer. “Do you recognise this man? We want to speak to him in relation to a theft at a Blackpool restaurant on the 20th September,” the post said. Although most people were trying to help, they also couldn’t help but notice that the guy looked a lot like Ross. The post went viral, eventually forcing David Schwimmer to proclaim his innocence.
Schwimmer posted his own video to confirm he hasn’t stolen anything from a Blackpool restaurant. The actor’s caption revealed that he was actually in the United States at the time.
“Officers, I swear it wasn’t me. As you can see, I was in New York. To the hardworking Blackpool Police, good luck with the investigation,” Schwimmer wrote. He added the hashtag #itwasntme.
It’s a brilliant response that had people laughing and cheering on Schwimmer. However, everybody hopes he returned the crate of beer after filming the video.
Blackpool Police immediately saw the video and shared it on their Facebook page. “Thanks for being there for us David Schwimmer. We appreciate your support!” they wrote.
The police had previously responded to people commenting about the man possibly being Ross from Friends. “Thank you to everyone for your speedy responses. We have investigated this matter thoroughly and have confirmed that David Schwimmer was in America on this date. We’re so sorry it has to be this way.”
It’s good to know that Schwimmer is innocent. Nevertheless, we are hoping that the real thief will eventually get caught.
