Deaf Woman Hearing For The First Time Gets Unexpected Surprise From Boyfriend

What’s the first thing you want to hear when you wake up in the morning? A deaf woman finally got the chance to hear everything for the first time when she got a cochlear implant. Interestingly, the first message she heard from her boyfriend will bring tears to your eyes.

Andrea Diaz received the implant at the Mississippi Medical Centre. When her doctor turned the device on, Diaz laughed then began to cry. It was overwhelming to finally hear things for the young woman, who said it was “funny” but also “weird.”

This deaf woman is hearing everything for the first time in her life.

Diaz’s doctor allowed her to get used to the new implant, letting her adjust to her newfound hearing. At one point, the doctor pointed out that Diaz’s mother had a special message for her.

“I love you, baby,” Mom said, making the deaf woman cry even more, moved by the sound of her mother’s voice. “I love you, Mommy,” she answered as she hugged her mom. However, this isn’t the only sweet message Diaz would hear on that special day.

The doctor continued adjusting the implant’s volume when Diaz admitted it was “actually loud.” She then asked Diaz to listen to her mother, then to her boyfriend, who is also in the room.

She is about to get yet another wonderful surprise.

Kevin Peakman finally spoke, asking his girlfriend if she could hear him. Diaz stated that it sounded a little funny but it was OK. At this point, Peakman decided to give Diaz his own special message.

“I wanted to make this one of the first things that you hear,” he said as he got down on one knee and took out a ring. “Because I love you so much and you’re my best friend, baby. I wanted to make sure the first thing you heard was me asking to marry you.”

Diaz was crying tears of joy but she still managed to say, “Yes.” Needless to say, this was a day she would never soon forget.
