He said that he has "typical cold" symptoms.
Elon Musk has always been doubtful about the severity of the coronavirus pandemic and is vocal about it. Now he’s speaking about it again, as he claims that he got both positive and negative results on the same day.
The Tesla chief expressed his doubts about the accuracy of the tests on Twitter, saying that “Something extremely bogus is going on.”
As expected, this ignited a heated debate online. Some are accusing Musk of being “irresponsible” by saying that the coronavirus tests may be unreliable.
However, the businessman and billionaire paid no heed to the critics and went further into his doubts about the testing process.
Some Twitter users seemed to be in agreement with Musk, saying that the false-positive results such as Musk’s could be the reason why countries are experiencing “spikes” of the virus. Musk agreed with his post.
The 49-year-old Musk explained that he was taking polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests from separate laboratories, in which the results would be available in about a day. He said that he has “typical cold” but apart from that, he has no other symptoms that could be linked to COVID-19.
His test results are very crucial at the moment. If he has proven to be truly infected, he will not be allowed to visit the four astronauts included in SpaceX’s much-anticipated launch of a Crew Dragon capsule, which will take the astronauts to the International Space Station.
Musk has always been outspoken about the government response to the spread of the coronavirus. He doesn’t agree with the lockdown policies being done in countries around the world.
He said that the only the people who are at big risks of contacting the virus should be in quarantine “until the storm passes.” He added that he or his family won’t likely be taking the vaccines that will be made available.
