Her daughter is a picky eater and so she did something about it.
Ask any parent and most of them will probably tell you this: cooking nutritious food for children is just half the battle.
The tricky part, of course, is making sure that kids will really eat it – especially if they happen to be picky eaters.
Well one mother from Japan has showed us that with a bit of creativity, it’s possible to make even the simplest meals look attractive and delectable.
Etoni Mama is a mom from Tokyo who has taken it upon herself to create detailed, colorful food servings for her three children ages 8, 10, and 12.
In a BoredPanda feature, we learn that she has never had any formal food art training but looking at her work, we have no doubt she’s an expert at it.
As you can see in the images, Etoni Mama takes inspiration from pop culture characters, ranging from Toy Story and Monsters Inc, to My Neighbor Totoro and Pokémon, to Big Hero 6 and Star Wars, to everything else in between.
Etoni Mama, who is a nursery teacher by profession, told BoredPanda:
“I first got an idea to create a face out of ingredients in order to make it fun for my picky second daughter.”
Asked about how long it takes her to prepare the meals, she confessed they take at least an hour of her time. Although time-consuming, she does it out of her love for her children plus she’s admittedly happy about all the positive feedback she gets from her followers on social media.
“When I look at the ingredients, I can imagine many characters. But since it’s the food for my daughters, it is absolutely necessary for it to be delicious,” she likewise pointed out.
