Fake Beggar Exposed After Cops Discover She Has iPhone X, Jewelry, and $500 Purse

Growing up, most of us have been taught and encouraged by our parents to share what we have with the less fortunate. Being selfish is wrong, they tell us, and if there’s anything we can do to ease the suffering of another, we should never think twice.

However, it’s stories like these that just make us skeptical. According to recent reports, cops in New Jersey are now warning the public after they caught a woman begging people for cash – despite owning expensive clothes, purse, and mobile device.

In a Facebook post, authorities exposed 34-year-old Dorina Caldaras, a fake beggar carrying a sign that said:

“I have 1 baby. Please in the name of God, help me to buy baby stuff and diapers.”

Despite that, Caldaras “did not appear to be in critical need of cash,” said the police after they discovered that she had some jewelry, a $500 purse, and even a new iPhone X.

Caldaras, who claims to be from Romania, was “wearing Michael Kors boots, had a Coach handbag and had her nails freshly painted,” DailyMail article reported. She also admitted that “she is among a group of women brought each day from Queens, New York to New Jersey to beg for cash.”

She was spotted by the police along Vauxhall Road near Hilton Avenue where she received a ticket for impeding traffic and for soliciting without having a permit.

In an interview, Lieutenant Victor Correia said:

“She had an expensive handbag, she had an expensive coat on and expensive shoes. Her nails were recently done and she carried an iPhone X. She admitted that she was part of a larger ring and they travel through New Jersey , they drop certain people off at certain locations in New Jersey.”

He also warned residents:

“It is nice to be charitable, but it’s not a good idea to donate to someone on the side of the road with a sign. If you see someone who may need help, you can call our HQ and our officers will respond and assess.”
