He really didn't want to go back to shore talking about the one that got away.
Fishing can be considered a relaxing hobby. But for some, it is a competitive sport.
One guy proved that fishing could actually be very dangerous. In fact, he had to risk his life just to reclaim a fish he caught.
Just like any other fishing moments, catching a fish (especially a big one) doesn’t always go according to plan.
Of course, the fish would try its best to free itself, and there will be times that it would succeed. And that’s exactly what happened here.
The day started out fairly normal, just a man and a friend fishing off Dana Point Harbor. Suddenly the fisherman felt a big pull from the other end of the line.
He hooked a flounder off the coast and was thrilled that it was a large one. But the fish successfully freed itself from the hook and swam back to the water.
That would be the end of the story for most. If a fish goes swimming back into the deep, the fisherman would just cast his line and try again. Not this guy!
Without thinking, the man jumped into the sea to retrieve his catch. He secured the fish by grabbing its mouth with his hand.
He said:
“That was the save of a lifetime. I jumped in and grabbed it.”
