"I want to sell the pearl for the highest price. (The money) will change my destiny. My whole family will have better lives."
It seemed like another ordinary day for Hatchai Niyomdecha and his family as they picked up oyster shells along the seashore of Nakhon Si Thammarat in Thailand. Much to his surprise, he eventually ended up with a life-changing discovery.
As the reports tell us, the 37-year-old fisherman actually found a rare orange Melo pearl last January 27. According to him, he even had a weird dream about it several days before the unexpected discovery.
Hatchai shared about is dream, saying:
“An old man in white with a long moustache told me to come to the beach so I can receive a gift. I think he led me to finding the pearl.”
So what’s the plan now? Well naturally, Hatchai wants to make some money from his find.
“I want to sell the pearl for the highest price,” he said. “The money won’t just change my life, it will change my destiny. My whole family will have better lives.”
A wealthy businessman has previously contacted the family, offering 1 million baht (US$33,000) for the pearl but they declined him. Next, a collector wanted to buy it for 5 million baht ($167,000) but again, he was refused. Besides, they have a firm belief that they can still sell it for a better price.
As of this writing, a prospective buyer from China is currently in talks with the family, expressing intent to buy the precious pearl for the price of 10 million baht ($340,000).
