Does this paradise really exist?
Like a paradise lost in time, this hidden gem in Italy will make you fall in love with nature and art! In the province of Salerno, Campania region of Southwest Italy located a small village called the Furore.
The Furore boasts of beautiful, jaw-dropping sceneries and traditional art decoration. The place draws travelers and tourists from all over the globe.
A long time ago, small settlements along the scenic roads, in the mountains overlooking the sea, can be found in Furore. There weren’t any cluster of houses, and they did not have a central piazza. Way back then, the stairs and paths to the village were not visible from the coast.
Even passing travelers were unaware of the existence of this beautiful village, which was then dubbed as the “village that does not exist.”
After a while, the village’s mayor decided that Furore was ready to be introduced to the world. He ordered that every house be decorated and painted brightly to attract passing travelers, an artistic tradition that continues up to this day.
Furore’s tradition attracts tourists and artists from around the world, especially for the annual painting and decoration of buildings and murals every September.
It is the oldest part of Furore, which displays a beautiful view of the mountain cliffs with a cluster of old fisherfolk houses and a narrow gorge cutting inland from the sea. The Fjord has a 30-meter high bridge, which also hosts the annual International Diving Championships.
Some of the well-known landmarks include an old lime kiln converted into a bar and gift shop, renovated old houses, and the industrial heritage and botanical museum. At noon, sunlight breaks through the narrow gorge, that makes the small beach a cozy spot for swimming and sunbathing. Clear blue waters add to the attractive beauty of this place.
The beautiful mountain scenery, artistic murals, colorful buildings, refreshing beach, and rich tradition and history make the Furore the perfect tourist destination. What are you waiting for? Pack your bags and book your flight to this hidden paradise!
