Who thought that a cute cellphone case can do more harm than good?
Most people use cell phone cases to protect their mobile device. Unfortunately, some cases can in fact be harmful. Take for example, Olivia Retter, a 9-year-old, who now has a scar in the shape of an iPhone because its case released ‘toxic’ liquid.
Olivia fell asleep on top of her cell phone with the cell phone case on it. She woke up in the middle of the night because of the pain on her leg.
Truth is, Olivia was not allowed by her parents from bringing her cell phone in her bedroom at night, but she slipped it in and brought it to her bed. She slept with it touching her leg. When Olivia complained to her mom, Karly, about the pain on her leg, Karly was surprised with what she saw.
They discovered that the cell phone case caused the burn and not the phone’s battery. The case had some kind of liquid and glitter and is decorated with rainbows and unicorns. There was no crack on the case, but the chemicals leaked out nonetheless and now Olivia is scarred for life. Karly was in shock imagining if it had leaked on Olivia’s face!
