The angry teen didn't sugarcoat her message!
Teen climate activist Greta Thunberg has captured the world’s attention after delivering a short but powerful speech during the United Nations Climate Action Summit. In her message, the Swedish girl slammed world leaders for their lack of action towards a very serious problem.
Thunberg, 16, began her talk by telling her listeners that the younger generation are “watching” the current leaders. And she didn’t sugarcoat her words at all!
The emotional teen angrily said:
“You all come to us young people for hope. How dare you! You have stolen my dreams and my childhood with your empty words.
“We are in the beginning of a mass extinction and all you can talk about is money and fairy tales of eternal economic growth. How dare you!”
Thunberg then went on to condemn the idea of reducing emissions by 50% in 10 years which is clearly not enough to address global warming. She also mentioned statistics regarding the planet’s remaining CO2 budget which continues to dwindle in alarming levels to this day.
For example, President Donald Trump of the United States sarcastically made fun of her on Twitter when he shared her video.
The teen, however, was quick to respond to the mocking and slapped back by changing her bio on Twitter to reflect Trump’s tweet.
How about you, our dear readers? What did you think about the teen’s UN speech?
