These videos reveal all.
We pretty much have an idea how astronauts eat, sleep, and do their bathroom business in zero gravity but have you ever wondered how on Earth do they wash their hair? Not being able to shower while inside the space shuttle certainly presents lots of challenges but as real troupers, these astronauts do what they can to keep themselves fresh and clean during their journey.
Astronauts Karen Nyberg and Luca Parmitano reveal through these videos how they wash their hair (or shaved head, in Luca’s case) while onboard the International Space Station. It’s freaking cool, actually.
Karen cleans her tresses with the help of water, no-rinse shampoo, and towel. Hey, a girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do, even in space.
Luca shows us how easier it is for men when it comes to the grooming department. Unfair!
That’s no-fuss hair care for you right there, as shown by Karen and Lucas. It must be pretty tough not being able to have a good old-fashioned bath for long stretches of time, but these astronauts don’t mind the little things for the sake of their jobs.
