Husband Shoots ‘Intruder’ In The Middle of the Night, Turns Out It Was His Pregnant Wife

• A husband from Florida accidentally shot his wife in the middle of the night after mistaking her for an intruder.

This is the tragic moment when a husband mistakenly shot an ‘intruder’ walking up in the middle of the night in their Florida home. It turned out it was actually his pregnant wife and the shooting led to her untimely death.

According to the authorities from Martin County Sheriff’s Office, they were alerted to the scene at about 1:30 a.m. Officers immediately arrived and saw the man standing outside their home calling for help.

A fatal mistake.

The wife’s body was found inside the home with a gunshot on the head. She was rushed to a nearby medical facility and was declared dead.

In an interview with Tequesta radio stationWPBF, Sheriff William Snyder shared that the victim was six months pregnant and doctors later successfully saved the baby.

The husband got up in the middle of the night after hearing strange noises. He thought it was an intruder and bought his firearm with him. He shot the said ‘intruder’ and much to his shock and surprise, “it turned out to be his wife” who had also gotten up, said Snyder.

Investigations are currently ongoing.

Authorities assured that they will still conduct further investigations to ensure that the shooting was indeed nothing more than an accident.

“Though we do have a good statement from (the husband), we don’t take anything at face value and we’ll continue investigating, do all of the backgrounds. There’s a lot of investigative steps that we’ll take to make sure that he’s telling the truth,” Snyder pointed out.

Snyder likewise emphasized about the importance of responsible gun use.

“When you have a home where you have family members, you have to be even more careful and wait that extra second and do everything you can to make sure you know what you’re dealing with when you’re about to use deadly force,” he explained.
