"We're still kind of speechless," the parents said.
Indiana twins Joslyn and Jaxon do not share the same birthday. The two babies were respectively born December 31, 2019 and January 1, 2020. Their unique story have since gone viral online and they’ve been featured by numerous media outlets.
While twins generally share the same date of birth, there are always exceptions to the rule. This is exactly the case for the twins of Dawn Gilliam, a mother from Indiana.
In an unexpected turn of events, she gave birth to her bundles of joy on December 31, 2019 and January 1, 2020. And now the internet couldn’t help but be amazed about their unique story.
According to a feature by PEOPLE, the twins were due for February 19 but Dawn was taken to the Ascension St. Vincent Carmel hospital for lack of fetal movement.
Dawn first gave birth to baby girl Joslyn at 11:37 in the evening who weighed 4 lbs and 11 oz. Around half an hour later, she was followed by her brother Joshua who was 4 lbs, 7 oz.
Despite being born prematurely, both babies are born healthy, although they are on feeding tubes and have to stay in the hospital for a period of time.
In an interview with the media, Dawn shared:
“We’ve known for a while that she was going to be born first. She’s been in position for most of the pregnancy. Of course, he was breech. So, it took awhile for him to come.”
Meanwhile Jason Tello, father of the twins, admitted they are “still kind of overwhelmed” about what happened. “We’re still kind of speechless,” he also added.
