"The way he came right up and pushed himself into me there was no question this dolphin was there for help.“
There is nothing more exciting than a close encounter with a dolphin. To have the experience of coming face to face with a large marine animal will take your breath away.
But a viral video that was taken years ago recently emerged online, and it showed more than just a human-dolphin interaction. Dolphins are considered to be one of the smartest creatures on the planet, so would it really shock anyone that a dolphin asked a human for help?
An amazing dolphin rescue was captured on video by a group of divers after the animal approached them for help. Wild dolphins rarely approach divers and are actually rather cautious of humans unless habituated in some way.
But it seems that the Bottlenose Dolphin with limited mobility due to a hook and fishing line restricting its pectoral fin knew that its only hope was to get help from humans.
The dolphin swam up to diver Keller Laros and nudged him as if to say, “I need some help!”
Keller said:
“I was trying to unwrap it, I got the line fishing hook out of the pectoral fin. There was a line coming out of his mouth. But, the line wrapped around his pectoral fin was so tight.”
What makes this story even more amazing is that the dolphin stayed close to Keller and gave him the time to untangle him and remove the hook. Once he cuts most of the line free, the dolphin swims off back into the ocean’s abyss.
He added:
“I’ve had bottlenose dolphins approach me a lot of times and they are really smart animal. The way he came right up and pushed himself into me there was no question this dolphin was there for help.“
Although the suffering of the dolphin was caused by humans, it is still nice to know that some people were given the chance and opportunity to correct the mistake.
