He Saw A Man Inside A Car Hanging By A Cliff’s Edge, Then He Ran 200 Yards And Did THIS!

He risked his own life to save a man from imminent danger, then he just left saying he had to go back to work.

Lewiston, Idaho–29-year-old John Warnock was driving along Bryden Canyon on his way to work that Wednesday morning, the 15th of April when he noticed unusual debris along the road. When he looked up, he was stunned to see a 2000 GMC Yukon precariously hanging over the cliff’s edge. The only thing that had stopped the SUV from plunging down the 30-foot vertical drop was a chain-link fence.

Apparently, the 23-year-old driver of the SUV, Michael Sitko, had an emotional episode that morning.

Sitko was carelessly driving above the canyon and almost hit another motorist so he veered from the road.

Sitko lost control of the wheel and the car went into a yard, over two terraces, and towards the cliff’s fence.

And if it hadn’t been for the fence, he would have plummeted straight down the cliff.

Warnock got out of his own car and ran 200 yards uphill to approach the vehicle. He managed to call 911 for help, “The guy is still hanging”, he said. “I hope he stays there.”

He tried to break car’s window using his leatherman toolkit, but it was unsuccessful. So he calmly tried to convince Sitko to roll down the window.

Although he was shaken, Sitko did as he was told and that’s when Warnock was able to carefully pull him out of imminent danger.

The two men embraced and talked for a while about God and about being at the right spot at the right time. Warnock then left immediately saying he had to go back to work. Soon the Lewiston police and paramedics arrived to assist Sitko. Fortunately, he only sustained minor injuries.

Michael Sitko expressed his gratitude by posting on his Facebook page that same day.

Warnock’s picture, which was taken during the incident was tagged as “Mystery Man”. It went viral over the internet when the Lewiston Morning Tribune published the story. He was then invited by the Lewiston Police Department on Thursday.

“The Lewiston Police Department would like to thank Jason Warnock for his quick and decisive actions in helping Mr. Sitko and preventing the situation from worsening.”

Meanwhile, Lewiston interim police chief Roger Lanier told NBC News that Michael Sitko is being treated for some mental health issues.

John Warnock is a brave, selfless man who unconditionally helped a man in need. He is truly a hero and a good Samaritan.
