It's a "dream come true," according to the John Wick star.
He’s definitely a man of many talents. Aside from being an acclaimed action star, Keanu Reeves is also a film producer, a director, and a voice actor. Plus he used to play bass guitar for alternative rock band Dogstar.
Now Hollywood’s nicest guy is adding “comic book writer” to the list as he launches his first comics entitled BRZRKR under Boom! Studios. The preview pages have recently been released and they look pretty fantastic.
In the official press release, we read:
“BOOM! Studios is proud to announce BRZRKR, a twelve-issue limited series from the iconic Keanu Reeves in his Must Read comic book writing debut alongside New York Times bestselling co-writer Matt Kindt (Folklords, Bang!) and acclaimed artist Alessandro Vitti (Marvel’s Secret Warriors), colorist Bill Crabtree (BRPD), and letterer Clem Robins (Hellboy) in a brutally violent new series about one immortal warrior’s fight through the ages.”
Meanwhile, Reeves confessed he has “loved comics” since he was a child and the medium has been a “significant (artistic) influence” to him.
“To have the chance to create BRZRKR and collaborate with legends in the industry… is a dream come true,” the John Wick actor added.
Looking at the artwork, it’s hard to miss the fact that the lead character bears a striking resemblance to Reeves.
It’s a safe bet that he’ll gamely take the role himself if this story ever gets turned into a movie!
Recommended for mature readers, BRZRKR #1 is scheduled to hit comic book stores this October 2020. Digital copies will also be made available via comiXology, iBooks, Google Play and Madefire.
