Man Gets Lung Infection After Sniffing His Stinky Socks

One man in China has a bizarre habit of sniffing his smelly socks every day after work. Now, he has been diagnosed with a severe fungal infection in his lungs.

The man, known as Peng, experienced extreme pain in his chest and had a bad case of cough, so he was admitted to the Zhangzhou hospital in Fujian, China. An x-ray confirmed that he is suffering from a severe lung infection and he has been kept in for treatment.

Peng then admitted to the doctor that he had an obsession in smelling the socks that he had worn the whole day. He said that after using the pair, he would take them off and inhale the odor. This bizarre habit resulted in a severe infection that led him to the hospital.

Dr. Mai Zhuanying at the Zhangzhou No. 909 Hospital said:

“The infection could also be attributed to the patient’s lack of rest at home as he had looking after his child, leading to a weaker immune system.”

Doctors then treated Peng to relieve his infection. Although his habit was proven to be dangerous to his health, he is expected to recover fully.

It has been confirmed that the infection was caused by the man’s habit of sniffing his smelly socks.

Having a foot fetish may be odd for some people, but it is quite popular. However, having a fascination with smelling socks is less well known.
