Man Gets Matching Tattoo In Solidarity With Dog, Declares Himself ‘Neutered’
Dogs have been known to be man’s best friend for as long as we can remember. They have proven their unconditional love and loyalty time and again, making many humans feel like pleading the same level of dedication to their pets. But would you be willing to be ridiculed by the vicious online community only to prove solidarity with your furry pal?
Apparently, a man from Texas is. Chris Mendiola is a 26-year-old pet owner with an interesting story to tell about how he got matching tattoos with his beloved dog, Bear. Eight years ago, Chris and Bear crossed paths when the canine bounced from one owner to another and landed on the Texas man’s home.
Chris Mendiola would go to unusual lengths to prove his love for his pet dog, Bear
At the time of adoption, the pet owner noticed a marking that appears to be a tattoo on his dog’s underbelly.
Chris’ attention was caught by an unusual mark on his dog’s underbelly
He then posted about it on social media, expressing his disgust at how people can do such a cruel thing to animals.
Then, in September 2017, he posted a photo of himself with a matching tattoo as that of his dog on Facebook.

After his post gained attention on the social media platform, he then began receiving comments that “educated” him about what the unnatural marking actually meant.
Chris was teased for not knowing that the tattoo was a mandatory marking for dogs that have been neutered. The marking was prescribed by The Association of Shelter Veterinarians for pet cats and dogs, both male and female, in the United States.
Chris was ‘educated’ on Facebook about the real meaning of the tattoo
But even after getting mocked by people he doesn’t even know personally, Chris Mendiola stood by his decision. That is, despite the fact that he may now be seen as a neutered man.
Despite being mocked online, Chris Mendiola remains by his decision to show how much he loved his pet
“We talked to our vet about the tattoo. I knew what it meant,” he told BuzzFeed, adding that he was well aware of “what he was getting himself into.”
“They can believe and say what they want, but the tattoo is not for them, it’s for me.”
Do you love your dog like Chris Mendiola?
Would you do the same for your own neutered pet? Sound off in the comments and share this interesting story with your dog lover friends.
