Muscular Policewoman Tackles Unlucky Thief Who Tried to Steal From Sunbathing Women
Some days you just get really, really unlucky. Take it from this thief who decided to steal a woman’s smartphone while she was having some time under the sun in the Rålambshov Park in Stockholm.
A helpless woman seems like an easy target, right? Well what she didn’t know was that the lady was with Mikaela Kellner, an off-duty police officer from Sweden, who was more than capable of taking him down.
In an interview, Kellner explained that the crook pretended to be selling magazines for the homeless (geez!) as she approached them. She got a little suspicious about him and immediately warned her friends.
She said:
“I told my friends to keep an eye on their things. But as soon as he left one of my friends said ‘where did my mobile phone go?’”
Off-duty Swedish cop Mikaela Kellner took down a thief who tried to steal her friend’s phone.
Kellner quickly sprang into action.
“There was no time, so I ran after him, maybe 15 metres or so. One of my friends is also a police officer, so we got hold of him. He tried to get away so we held onto him harder.”
Reflecting on the experience, Kellner shared:
“I just acted on instinct and didn’t think about it so much until after we had pinned him down. When I sat there I looked over at our other two friends who are not police officers and realised that it probably looked pretty funny. But I would have stepped in no matter my outfit.”
Judging by her Instagram videos, officer Kellner is really someone you wouldn’t want to mess with.
Kellner posted a photo of the incident on Instagram and it eventually went viral. Many have also hailed the cop as a hero for what she did.
“I’ve had a lot of positive comments both from friends and colleagues. It happens all the time that valuables are taken like this and often you don’t notice they’re gone until later. I mainly just wanted to raise awareness of how cunning these people are, almost like magicians.”
