Woman Gives Up Teaching To Create Mind-Blowing Optical Illusions Using Makeup

Unbeknownst to some people, makeup is more than just a means for adjusting a person’s (mostly women) everyday look. It’s more than just elevating one’s beauty. It’s actually an art itself and most makeup artists take this craft very seriously.

Take for example Mimi Choi, who hails from Vancouver, Canada. She’s a makeup artist who creates simple to intense hyper-real optical illusions. And in fact, her works have helped her gained a huge following on social media sites.

Choi creates her mind-blowing art by carefully understanding certain perspectives. She artistically manipulates makeup in a way that the finish product looks stunning and mind-blowing.

The 31-year-old makeup artist previously worked as teacher in a preschool for three years. Feeling like her creativity was “suppressed,” she decided to leave teaching and pursued “a new challenge.” She then decided to start experimenting with everything makeup.

Choi was quoted saying,

I’ve always been arty and had done bridal makeup before, which people really liked. I’d not done anything as crazy as the work I do now, though.” Enrolling at a local beauty college really helped Mimi to take her skills to new heights. But things really took off when Halloween was just around the corner. “I wanted to do something different for October 31, so I had a look on Instagram and found a photo of a woman, who looked like her face had cracked.”

She added:

I’d never tried any kind of crazy make-up on myself, but I just got out my black and white eyeliner and gave it a go.”
