She never thought of dropping out when she learned she was pregnant.
A lot of ladies who get pregnant while still attending school give up on their studies to stay at home and focus on building their own families. This new mother is different, though, and she even took multi-tasking to a whole new level.
Nayzia Thomas is yet to finish psychology at Country Community College in Kansas when she found out that a baby’s on the way. Despite learning about her pregnancy, she never once thought of dropping out and she continued attending classes up until her 39th week of pregnancy.
Her expected due date shouldn’t clash with her finals but her baby is apparently too excited to come out that she had to take her school tasks to the hospital as she goes into labor. While she could get permission to submit a final assignment after her delivery and receive a temporary “incomplete” mark until she accomplishes her requirements, Nayzia chose to cut the delay and opted to finish her tasks early.
Nayzia’s mom then took a photo of her laboring daughter finishing a grueling task of completing her assignment. The psychology student then posted the photo on Twitter and shared her difficult delivery as well as sharing about her son’s traumatizing post-delivery shock. Her story inspired many and received love from over 120,000 people on social media. She wrote:
“It wasn’t due until the end of the week — finals week is Dec. 11 to tomorrow — but my goal was to try to have everything done before [the baby came].
[I thought,] ‘before all this gets crazy let me hurry up and finish this final’.”
The new mom later updated her followers, sharing how she lost a lot of blood during her delivery. She said she was so scared for her and her baby but with the help of her fiancée, everything went well.
“…We are blessed! AND I’m finishing the semester w/ a 3.5 GPA!”
After getting a final blood transfusion, Nayzia and her little family were already able to go home last Friday. She took time to post a photo of her own team and expressed her gratitude to those who supported her.
“…Thanks to everyone again for the positivity and love.
Its been hard trying to cope with being so close to death, but I can’t thank God enough for being able to share my story!!”
In an interview, Nayzia once again talked about her experience saying:
“These two males are my entire world. I had such a life-changing experience giving birth to our first born son, with the love of my life.
I used every ounce of strength, and right after he came out there was a “code RED”. I lost a serious amount of blood and went into shock and went unconscious. I don’t remember much, but I do remember seeing angels in my room about an hour before delivery.
I thought it was the medication, but now goes to show God knows my pure heart and he knew I’d give my life in order to make sure my son is healthy and happy. I am so thankful for all my family & friends, as well as the random people… Too blessed.”
Indeed, Nayzia has an inspiring pregnancy experience and deserves an applause for her resilience and strong will. Apart from pursuing her studies full-time while carrying a baby, she also maintained three jobs plus an internship at an attorney’s office.
