Mom shouts finding shark in a pool where they were swimming when her daughter jumped in to do something very courageous.
People seeing sharks usually run in fear to save their lives as they are known as savage flesh eaters. However, it appears that there are some of us who care for these creatures, enough for them to jump into probable danger just to save sharks.
A real estate agent named Melissa Hatheier is probably one odd woman for saving a shark from being trapped, but her heartfelt concern for the creature made her a star on social media. Now dubbed as the “Shark Wrangler” by her colleagues, Melissa said she just did what she does for work and that is to relocate things in need of a new home.
The incident happened when she went on her morning swim in the pool at the beachside suburb of Cronulla, South Sydney. Her mom reportedly noticed a fin in the water while she was swimming with a group of friends. Yelling, “Oh my god, get out – there’s a shark,” Melissa swam almost over the shark. She appeared to wrestle the shark when she wrangled it by the fin so she could carry it over to the edge of the pool, then later tossed it back into the ocean.
The breathtaking moment was recorded in a video by Melissa’s daughter. People who witnessed the incident cheered for her as she fearlessly saved the shark and her mom from danger.
Media caught word about Melissa’s brave act. The talked about real estate agent shared the experience on a t.v. show saying:
“I herded him into the shallows and then I just got him with my knees, with his fins, and threw him back and saved him.”
TV host Karl Stefanovic commended her calling Melissa a “can-do woman.” Then Melissa continued to explain her deed saying:
“I wasn’t (scared). I was just thinking he was trapped in this rock pool and I needed to help him out.
I’m a real estate agent. My job is to help people relocate to their perfect homes. I just helped the shark relocate to the ocean.”
The video of Melissa wrestling the shark has gone viral on Facebook. Cronulla Real Estate – where Melissa is affiliated – wrote on Facebook about her fearless stunt:
“Our in house Shark Wrangler Melissa Hatheier wrestling a shark out of Oak Park Rock Pool yesterday morning!
Nice work Mel! #nextlevel #classicMel.”
