Mysterious Monolith Found In Utah Desert Has Now Disappeared, Says Officials
- The mysterious silver monolith found in a Utah desert has disappeared, according to the Bureau of Land Management.
- In a Facebook post, BLM said the object has been removed by “an unknown party” last November 27.
- No one knows its current location or even its purpose or origin.
The silver monolith recently discovered in a Utah desert has mysteriously vanished without a trace, officials have confirmed. According to the Bureau of Land Management, they have been informed by trusted sources that the said object has been removed by “an unknown party.”
In an official statement shared on their Facebook page, the Bureau tells us that they have “received credible reports that the illegally installed structure, referred to as the ‘monolith’ has been removed from Bureau of Land Management (BLM) public lands by an unknown party.”
The post continued:
“The BLM did not remove the structure which is considered private property. We do not investigate crimes involving private property which are handled by the local sheriff’s office. The structure has received international and national attention and we received reports that a person or group removed it on the evening of Nov. 27.”
The 3-meter metal prism’s origins remain unknown at the moment. It was initially discovered last week but a quick look at Google Maps reveals it had been in the area as early as 2016.
The discovery has prompted various theories from people who tried figuring out how the bizarre object got there in the desert, with some speculating it may have been done by late American sculptor Joh McCracken while others are saying it may be of extraterrestrial origins.
In an interview with KSL, helicopter pilot Ryan Bacher said he visited the area last Friday to see the monolith. His friend also went there the next day and to their surprise, it wasn’t there anymore.
Upon the monolith’s discovery, BLM reminded the public:
“Although we can’t comment on active investigations, the Bureau of Land Management would like to remind public land visitors that using, occupying, or developing the public lands or their resources without a required authorization is illegal, no matter what planet you are from.
“The exact location of the installation is not being disclosed since it is in a very remote area and if individuals were to attempt to visit the area, there is a significant possibility they may become stranded and require rescue.”
So with its origins – and current location- unknown, the mystery of the strange monolith continues to haunt those who are curious to know the truth.
