Mystery Bug Bite Baffles Doctors After Man Wakes Up With Terrifying Bruises

Insect bites could be harmless most of the time. However, it is also something that shouldn’t be taken for granted. Sometimes, a tiny and seemingly innocent bite could be life-threatening as well. Just like what happened to a man who woke up covered in massive bruises after being bit by a strange bug.

A man from Chandler, Arizona is currently recovering from a mysterious medical condition caused by a strange insect bite. Thomas Jay and his wife Dee Petrov shared the traumatizing incident that resulted to tedious and excruciating days in the hospital.

In an interview with Phoenix’s KTVK, Jay recalled how he incurred the bruises that covered almost his entire arm. Apparently, he was taking out the trash one day when some kind of bug stung him.

According to the victim, the suspicious looking bug was something he had never seen before and never thought that it was actually harmful.

“As I glanced at it really quick, all of a sudden I just felt this excruciating pinch, this pressure, this bite or a sting that happened and occurred. And [I] immediately went and swatted the bug off,” Jay revealed.

Thomas Jay was bitten by a mysterious bug that caused massive bruises on his arm.

At first, the insect bite didn’t seem serious. However, as days passed by, the 41-year-old man started to notice signs of bruises. His condition escalated quickly, prompting his wife to rush him to the nearest hospital.

His wife saif:

“It started with one little round circle and became an emergency in a matter of hours!”

Jay spent days in the hospital due to the insect bite.

According to him, he suffered from severe itching and weakness in his arm.

Although unconfirmed, the victim claims that the insect looks like a camel spider.

Meanwhile, Petrov started a GoFundMe page that aims to help cover her husband’s medical expenses. The fundraiser is targeting to acquire $10,000.

Fortunately, Jay is now doing better.

She also shared several photos of her husband’s progress to give hope to those who might experience the same situation.

“I hope to give an overall story at some point with pictures to help anyone who this may happen too in the future … to be prepared. We just don’t know that much about venom and how anyone will react.”

Doctors are now waiting for the biopsy results to determine what really caused Jay’s condition.
