"One man's trash is another man's treasure."
In 2012, artist Isobelle Ouzman found a box containing old hardbound novels lying beside a dumpster in an alley in Seattle. Rather than ignoring what seems to be a trash for others, Ouzman took interest and decided to bring home the old books and turn it into something awesome.
Using an x-acto knife, Micron pens, watercolors, and glue, Ouzman transformed the old books into magical 3D art that will certainly leave you in awe.
In her website, Ouzman explained that she wanted to give life to the old books.
She wrote: “I love books very much and would never carve into one that was valuable. I just want to give them a new life and a second chance to mean something again”
Three years after she started the project, Isobelle is still altering books that come from thrift stores, recycling bins, or someone who’s willing to donate one.
She hopes to create just a little bit of magic in every page that she makes.
